Christmas at Tagert Hut
Our annual holiday hut trip tradition continues. This year five of us made the trek in to Tagert Hut on Christmas Eve. As is always the case with this ritual, and hut trips in general, it was a really good time.
Not only did it allow us a temporary escape from the holiday madness down in Aspen, but it also coincided with a real storm that left more than ten inches of snow on the deck Christmas morning. Considering the sparse snowfall we’ve received this year so far, the new snow and the ability to go out on a Christmas ski tour was a gift we were all happy to receive.
The Christmas Hut Trip has been a fun tradition. I think we’ve done it for seven years straight now. Different huts, different friends, each year is memorable in its own way due to the makeup of the group, the weather, the snow, the meals, etc. One thing that stood out to me this year was the breakfast that our friend Jim put together. He called it “Omelet in a Bag” and it works like this:
