Saturday’s bad weather made for classic storm day conditions up in Highland Bowl. The wind and low visibility kept the fair weather crowds away, and the snow only piled up deeper as the day progressed.
Here’s a little video from Christy’s Bowl day. If it isn’t obvious, she’s a proud member of the camp that believes that you should never ride the snowcat up the ridge, no matter how short the line or brutal the winds may be. It’s a good rule.

Looks like a great day! I wimped out on Saturday, but being a Front Ranger I claim bad traffic + cold recovery. Sunday was still great.

You’re right, Jen. If only we could all see the Hahnenkahm-esque crash Christy had on Sunday, complete with the takeout of a big SLOW sign. She should wear the camera (and helmet) everywhere.

I thought that was you, Tim. Just to be clear, while I said I think “it’s a good rule”, as you know I too hitch a ride here and there, just never with Christy or I run the risk of being called a wimp.
And I purposely named one of the runs in the video after in its official “Y” designation rather than it’s more common trail map name so as to keep one of your favorites on the relative downlow. Keep trying to flush the ptarmigans in there.

No they don’t, but I bet you and Tim could bring a thermos and toast to the sort-of-comfy ride as you’re schussed up the hill.
