In 2016 I finished Nolan’s 14 in 55:37 following the route north from Mt Shavano to Mt Massive, a near 100 mile course that climbs 14 14ers along the way.

Mount Elbert Loop
Looking for a moderate distance trail run that gets you up into the high alpine? Do you prefer loops to out-and-backs, so that you don’t have to travel along the same trail in both directions?
2016 Hardrock 100
Summing up the Hardrock 100 is always a challenge, though when it goes well it’s admittedly easier. This year, my 8th time running, was relatively smooth. I finished in 28:52, my 3rd fastest time, which was good enough for 7th place overall.
Brush Lakes and Electric Peak
We’ve always insisted that some of the easiest peaks can present the biggest challenges. We had twice failed to reach the grassy summit of Electric Peak, 13,598 ft. in the Northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Buffalo Peaks Loop
At the northeast edge of the loop, heading back towards the Buffalo Peaks in the distance. We ran a cool linkup of trails in the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness outside of Buena Vista last weekend. The 25 mile loop circumnavigated the pair of 13,000 foot peaks known as the Buffalo Peaks, and it was a perfect semi-long day on the trail. (more…)

Norway – Lyngen Alps
Our last stop on our Norway trip was to the Lyngen Alps, a peninsula packed with peaks a short distance north of Tromso. We had long heard of the region, it’s one of the more well-known locations in Northern Norway for climbing and skiing.
