Christy descends the North Face.
Route: North Face
Team: Christy, Ted
We made the long trip down to the Huerfano Valley, and drove up the road as far as the snow would allow. The next morning went smoothly, with the crux of the day being the creek crossing, and in both directions.
We climbed the class 3 couloir on the North Face, but rather than retrace out steps down, we skied an awesome north facing gully down in to the valley between Huerfano Peak and Lindsey, a much longer ski line, and then climbed back up to the saddle before heading down to the trailhead.
It was getting late in the spring down here, but there was still time for one more peak.

On approach to the saddle between Lindsey and the Iron Nipple.

From the saddle we followed an old boot track to the summit.

In the couloir.

Once out of the couloir and on the false summit the true summit is revealed.

Skiing the North Face. Huerfano Peak is behind.

And then we had to climb back up to get over the saddle. It was well worth the longer ski.

And as I mentioned, the creek was the crux of the day. There was no easy way around it.
