We ran into, or rather were passed by, Linden Mallory and Ben Koons on Buckskin Pass. We had a great run on the Four Pass Loop last Thursday, an ideal escape from the madness of Aspen on the 4th of July. The trails are dry and the flowers were setting up to be in full bloom soon. (more…)
Our South Fork Pass camp. It has been unusually hot and very crowded around town, so we decided to escape on a little camping trip last weekend. And whereas we often seek solitude in far away places, we took a chance on a local spot where we’ve always wanted to camp, up by South Fork Pass. (more…)
A look back on the course towards the Papoose fire, near Rio Grande Reservoir, somewhere around mile 35. The San Juan Solstice 50 mile run was last weekend. It’s always been a favorite race of ours, and this year was made even better when both Christy and I managed to finish in our best times to date. (more…)
Christy and I went to Twin Lakes to run Mount Elbert last weekend, a favorite outing of ours and a pretty novel running experience considering it’s the tallest mountain in the state.

Late season snow allowed for a June descent of the North Face of Mount Silverheels, a Centennial 13er near Hoosier Pass and one that was on our list for the Centennial Ski Project.
Route: North Face Team: Christy, Ted, Chris Davenport, Scott Rinckenberger Riding a wave. If you haven’t been tuned into the Centennial Skiers Project, to sum it up quickly I’ll say it’s been a really good spring. Christy, Dav, and I (along with an assortment of friends) crisscrossed the state, skiing high-13er summits day after day. Not only has it been really productive, but it also rated pretty high on the...
We skied Columbia Point, part of the Centennial 13er in the Kit Carson group on Sunday, and wrapped up an incredibly successful Centennial Skiers road trip.
California Peak is a massive high 13er in the southern part of the Sangres near the 14ers Blanca and Lindsey.
Mount Oklahoma, a Centennial 13er just south of Mount Massive, is a great ski descent.
