On the way up to Copper Pass.
That was about all I could do on my run the other day. East Maroon to Triangle Pass to Conundrum Creek was the goal.
I knew I’d be in chase mode. I haven’t been out for more than a few short runs since Hardrock, and these guys were so fast, I went out with the simple goal– to just keep up.
As tiring as it may be, and even if one of the partners is a wiseguy who loves to remind you when you’re falling off the back, it’s good to go out with people who push you.
It was nice and quiet on the East Maroon side. We didn’t see a single person.
They took off in the lead off Copper Pass. Triangle Pass was next, seen out in the distance.
They waited a moment for me atop Triangle before the descent down Conundrum Creek.
And then they were off. At least I knew I’d be good for bronze.
I suppose if I didn’t stop for photos I might have stayed up front.
Cathedral and Castle Peak and the Upper Conundrum Creek Valley.
We saw a dead cow carcass by the hot springs.
About six miles out, I was still holding my own.
And thankfully I was just fast enough to finish before they drank all the beer.
