Quandary Peak always has a special place in my heart. It was the first 14er I skied back in 1999. It was also the first 14er Christy skied on an “adventure date” when we first met. So, I like to return to this 14er periodically because of the history I have with it.
I recently took the opportunity to skin and ski Quandary Peak, skiing the same line I did on that day back in 1999—the Cristo Couloir, on the mountain’s south side. It was a beautiful day, with light wind (for the Tenmile Range) and good corn snow in the couloir.

It was cool to be back, revisit the memories, and feel some gratitude for all the experiences I’ve had since I first started skiing almost 30 years ago.
Here’s a short video clip from the Cristo Couloir.
