Wrapping it up

Sunday afternoon we made it to Rogers Pass, ten days after being dropped off in the middle of nowhere, by the Bugaboo Spires. Eight of us made the 85+ mile traverse, climbing some 32,000 vertical feet along the way. (more…)
Sean starts down the massive couloir by Opaban Pass, above Lake O’Hara. Mount Biddle stands tall behind. With an unexpected day free before we embark on our Bugaboos to Rogers Pass traverse, I thought I’d post a few pics from the first leg of the Canada trip, from a couple of days in the Lake Louise area and the Icefields of the Rockies. It was still winter up there and...
Joey, cold smoke. We’re halfway through the season, and despite the fact that every major storm thus far has skirted us to the north or south, the first half of winter, and January in particular, proved to be pretty good for backcountry skiing. With any luck, the second half of winter will be even better. (more…)

Of course the business/ busy-ness is welcome, but by the...

The Henry Mountains from the north as we drove past the Maze and Goblin Valley. Surrounded by canyon country in all directions, it feels kind of strange as you approach them with the goal of skiing in mind. “So then what are you guys doing in Utah?” asked our friend after running through the list of typical Utah desert activities, i.e. biking, climbing, boating and hiking. I interrupted and said,”We’re...
Christy schusses the middle gully of Mace Peak’s North Face with late April powder. With plans to be away in the Utah desert for most of next week I thought I’d share some pics from a quick little tour Christy and did up in Ashcroft Sunday. A huge storm blew threw Colorado just before the weekend dumping some twenty inches of snow on the mountains and bringing us back into...
The signs were pointing to an exceptionally busy Saturday at Highlands. So we decided to hit one of our favorite lines on Highlands Ridge and made it a “one and done” day.
