In the department of good news, we were recently nominated as National Geographic Adventurers of the Year, for our completion of the Centennial Ski Project. It’s a huge honor to be considered for this award, something that National Geographic has been organizing since 2005. Teamwork is everything. What began years ago as three individual pursuits […]
[I originally posted this on Centennialskiers.com, a report from our final Centennial ski trip to Jagged Mountain, #100. We did it!] We climbed and skied Jagged Mountain, our 100th and final ski descent of the Centennial Ski Project. Christy, Chris, and I, along with our friend Pete Gaston, emerged from a four day trip in […]
Last spring, a film crew from Red Bull joined us on a few of our Centennial Ski Project peaks. They were producing an installment for the Faces of Dav series about Chris Davenport for Red Bull TV. You can watch the finished segment above.
As far as Colorado ski mountaineering is concerned, I’ve always considered the 3rd week in May to be my favorite stretch of time. So when I came home with 1300 photos from our recent Weminuche Traverse through the San Juan Mountains, I thought the single brief post I put up on the […]
First off, I wanted to announce our upcoming slideshow at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, Thursday night at 8pm. Christy and I are going to present the Centennial Ski Project— what it is, what we’ve done, and what’s yet to come. Unfortunately Chris Davenport can’t attend with us, but he’ll be there in the photos. We […]
[Christy here] With pretty incredible spring snow conditions continuing in Colorado, it has actually been hard to wrap up the skiing. However, this past weekend we finally started to transition into summer, splitting our weekend 50 – 50 between running and the Centennials project.
Route: North Face Team: Christy, Ted, Chris Davenport, Scott Rinckenberger If you haven’t been tuned into the Centennial Skiers Project, to sum it up quickly I’ll say it’s been a really good spring. Christy, Dav, and I (along with an assortment of friends) crisscrossed the state, skiing high-13er summits day after day. Not only has […]
Spring is here. The busy work season is winding down, the backcountry snowpack is deeper and more stable– this is often the time we get to pursue our personal skiing goals. I have to say we’re really looking forward to this next objective. Christy, Chris Davenport, and I are setting out to ski the Centennials. […]
