Far up Lincoln Creek, past the Grizzly Reservoir, lies Truro Peak—a 13,282-foot mountain with spectacular panoramic views of other Lincoln Creek 13ers in every direction. The route is also pretty quick and easy, staying in the class 2+ range (steep hiking) the whole way up.
It is trail-less, though, and while it never gets too hard, the steep, XC nature of the hike can be challenging if you’re not used to that kind of terrain. If you’re into 13ers, you’ll feel right at home.
Drive up the Lincoln Creek Jeep Road to about 11,000 feet and find a spot to pull off. From there, cross Lincoln Creek and start up the gladed hillside. Follow Galena Creek, ascending along its right side, and as you near the treeline, begin climbing up to the obvious saddle to the north.
After a bit of elevation gain, you’ll reach the saddle, and from there, look for a faint trail that climbs and contours up the Northwest Face of Truro. You’ll move north across a few gullies, gaining elevation, and after 400 vertical feet or so, you will be on the summit.
Grizzly, Anderson, Petroleum, Tellurium, and Tabor peaks surround you. It’s a pretty nice summit!
