A post from our recent trip to the Weminuche, to climb White Dome, Peak One, and Hunchback Mountain.
Exploring the valleys and summits of the Sangre de Cristos, this time up to Macey Lakes and Colony Baldy.
The Tenmile Range is a region of the Colorado Rockies that contain the mountains surrounding Breckenridge and Frisco. These mountains frame the Blue River Valley and Lake Dillon and not only provide a scenic back drop for everything in the area, but contained within them is a cool ridge that allows for a huge linkup of summits.
A big lolloipop loop around Cronin Peak with several bicentennial 13ers and lots of time high on ridges.
A trip to the Weminuche Wilderness to climb the 13ers Mount Oso and Mount Nebo via Hunchback Pass, Vallecito Creek, Nebo Creek and Rock Lake.
It’s become a bit of a tradition for us to escape the July 4th crowds in town and go explore the Sangres.
Anchoring the north end of the long, narrow Sangre de Cristo mountain range lies Cottonwood Peak, 13,588 ft. a bicentennial best accessed via a rough jeep road that climbs high into Cloverdale Basin by the Cloverdale Mine.
The Ruby Range Traverse is a ridge traverse from Yule Pass to Ruby Peak across the nine named summits of the Ruby Range above Kebler Pass near Crested Butte, Colorado.
In 2016 I finished Nolan’s 14 in 55:37 following the route north from Mt Shavano to Mt Massive, a near 100 mile course that climbs 14 14ers along the way.
Thoughts and photos from some course recon days on the Nolan’s 14 route.
