Mountain Mentoring
Last year I had the opportunity to be a part of an amazing mentorship program that the Aspen Middle School conducts annually with their 6th-grade students. I was approached by an impressive 11-year old girl who asked if I would be willing to participate in the program as her mentor for ski mountaineering.
Death Valley
When a small storm moved into the Sierras mid-week, bringing wintry conditions to the mountains, we took the opportunity to head back to Death Valley National Park knowing that it would be unseasonably cool.

Sierre Zinal – Christy’s take
Sierre-Zinal, located in Switzerland’s Valais Alps, was one of the most incredible running experiences we have ever had in the mountains. It was such a special opportunity to run amongst the world’s elite running community on a spectacular course called the “La Course des Cinq 4000” – the “Race of the Five 4,000 meter peaks”.
Jupiter Mountain – 13,830 ft.
Jupiter Mountain, 13,830 ft., the first peak of our big Weminuche Wilderness ski traverse back in the spring of 2014.
Thunder Pyramid – 13,932 ft.
Skiing the West Face of Thunder Pyramid was every bit as exciting as I expected it to be. Wow.
Playing catch up on Oklahoma, Casco, and French
We’re pretty sure everyone has gotten over hearing about skiing at this point, but the snow just continued to hang on in the Sawatch Range so I was able to check off a few more peaks this past weekend – Oklahoma, Casco, and French.
