Route: Cameron Amphitheater
Team: Ted, Dwayne Stein
It would be a month after my first day on Quandary that I would get a partner for another peak. Dwayne was a friend from work. He snowshoed with his snowboard on his back– not be the most practical method but it gets the job done.
We drove to the Roberts Road trailhead and headed up between Mount Lincoln and Bross, following some old mine roads to the summit. The weather wasn’t too good as I recall, windy in particular. I had a disposable camera so we took some pictures and headed down the other side of the mountain, traversing down and over to the top of the expansive Cameron Amphitheater. Once out of the wind the snow softened and we had a pretty good run down and back to the car.
A week later I would try for Democrat.

Dwayne snowshoeing, Montgomery reservoir is in the distance below.

Somewhere between the Russian Couloir and Cameron’s summit.

It wasn’t bad snow once you were below the ridge and out of the wind. This was ski descent #2 for me.
