Last year I had the opportunity to be a part of an amazing mentorship program that the Aspen Middle School conducts annually with their 6th-grade students. I was approached by an impressive 11-year old girl who asked if I would be willing to participate in the program as her mentor for ski mountaineering.

When a small storm moved into the Sierras mid-week, bringing wintry conditions to the mountains, we took the opportunity to head back to Death Valley National Park knowing that it would be unseasonably cool.
No one really knew what to expect when we made the drive north from the Lofoten Islands to Senja Island. It turns out the place is awesome!
After finishing skiing Colorado’s 14ers in 2010, I had the incredible honor to be nominated for a Sportswomen of Colorado award.
[Christy here again] After spending the last three weekends running through the incredible Maroon – Snowmass Wilderness, we thought we’d switch it up and explore a new area. Earlier this summer, we had done a fun loop run over Missouri and Belford Mountains. Sierre-Zinal, located in Switzerland’s Valais Alps, was one of the most incredible running experiences we have ever had in the mountains. It was such a special opportunity to run amongst the world’s elite running community on a spectacular course called the “La Course des Cinq 4000” – the “Race of the Five 4,000 meter peaks”.
Jupiter Mountain, 13,830 ft., the first peak of our big Weminuche Wilderness ski traverse back in the spring of 2014.
Skiing the West Face of Thunder Pyramid was every bit as exciting as I expected it to be. Wow.
We’re pretty sure everyone has gotten over hearing about skiing at this point, but the snow just continued to hang on in the Sawatch Range so I was able to check off a few more peaks this past weekend – Oklahoma, Casco, and French.
[Christy here] With pretty incredible spring snow conditions continuing in Colorado, it has actually been hard to wrap up the skiing. However, this past weekend we finally started to transition into summer, splitting our weekend 50 - 50 between running and the Centennials project. (more…)
