The season is definitely winding down. For most it was over weeks or even months ago. But we always like to keep things going until the very end, and besides, the conditions up high are really just coming into form in May. We may still get out for another day or two before truly stashing […]
I recently joined two friends on a last minute trip to the Lindley Hut and we had two incredible days touring on and around the nearby peaks and couloirs. I thought I would share an assortment of photos and let them speak for the adventure.
The stormy spring weather continues, and there’s wintery snow everywhere up high. We recently went to Belleview Mountain, 13,233 ft. up the West Maroon Valley, a peak that Christy and I have been eying to ski for a while.
Christy, Joey, and I skied Mount Raoul last weekend, a local summit just west of Castle Peak named in honor of the late Raoul Wille.
They’re right in our backyard yet somehow Christy and I had never skied Taylor Peak or Star Peak. It was time. We caught a really good view of the 13,000 foot summits last week on our flight to CB for the Grand Traverse. Armed with a couple of photos and a good idea of the […]
Fall just wouldn’t be complete without a trip up to Montezuma Basin. A friend had told me that the recent wet weather was falling as snow up in the basin at 13,000 feet, and that the skiing was actually pretty good. Better yet, the road was still mostly dry and you could drive high up […]
Spring is here. At least according to the calendar. And though it isn’t a tradition to try to get out on the first day of the new season, with Christy and I both free this past Sunday, we set our sights on an objective we’ve had for some time- Buckskin Benchmark’s Southeast Face. The 13,370 […]
A trip up Pyramid Peak has become an annual tradition through the years. Some days I’ve reached the summit with a group of friends, other days I’ve gone up solo in an effort to move fast, a couple of jaunts have been as a means to celebrate Christy’s or my birthday and twice I’ve been […]
The Boys from Cali – the Sierra Slayers (More catching up- this from April 28th and 29th) All Chris Davenport said was that two of his friends, who get after it around Tahoe and the Sierras, were coming to town and looking to ski, and that they were going to call Neal and me. Oh and one more […]
Route: West Face Team: Ted, Al Beyer “I’m an architect, I like to think outside the box.” That was Al’s reasoning as to why we should try to ski Capitol Peak from the west, knowing that to this day, the few other marginally sensible routes either completed, attempted, or theorized have been on the other […]
