Since Internet readers have notoriously short attention spans I find it’s usually best to keep a post to a few hundred words and maybe ten photos. So when I came home with 1300 photos from our recent Weminuche Traverse through the San Juan Mountains, I thought the single brief post I put up on the Centennial Skiers site didn’t really do the five day trip justice. I wanted to share some photos that were left on the cutting room floor.

We're three weeks into 2014, and with a stretch of beautiful weather and a good amount of snow already this season, Christy and I climbed and skied UN13811 (as in "unnamed summit that's 13,811 feet in elevation") last weekend. And thus began the 2014 Centennial Skiers season.

You’re right that attention span is usually short on the Internet. But your blog always keeps my attention … the content is always jaw-dropping. See above. So if you have the inclination and time, write more than a few hundred words. I will always read it.

Really great pics, Ted. What a great 5 days you guys must have had. And, yes, no matter how long your posts are, they are always interesting and I will read every word.

Maybe I just like to keep it short and I’m blaming it on others. Thanks everyone for the kind comments, if anyone hasn’t been to that area yet, you should bump it up to the top of your list!

Very cool traverse. I’d be interested to know the distance covered and elevation gain/loss.
Also wondering what your packs weighed.
You are so right about skiing in May….. -
Hope you had fun up there Mike. Snow was a little thin for our liking (at least for summit descents) but even so it’s still an awesome place to be.
